Oils for Hair Conditioning Treatments

Category: Recipes

A good hairdresser will, if she's honest, tell you that "hot-oil treatments are a thing of the past and new research shows these do not do much at all for the health of your hair" .

That said, those commercial products are mostly glycerin based or made of benign oils with chemicals to "fake a look" of healthier hair.

In the article Hair Oiling Technique you will discover ways to actually improve your hair. Part of the methodology is that by nourishing the scalp it can produce healthier hair to begin with. Also, choosing high quality oils that are known to penetrate and hydrate will bring about the desired results. Where possible, do look for a "certified"* organic oil.

Some of the most popular and very beneficial oils which are being used for beautiful, strong, and healthy hair are:

Palma Christi Castor Oil from India
is a triglyceride of unique fatty acids, cold pressed and known as a strengthening hair oil that acts as a humectant**. It's moisturizing quality makes it well suited to condition thick, damaged, delicate, or curly hair and for overall healthy and shinny hair.

Jojoba Oil
can be used for dry hair as it helps to moisturize your hair properly. It helps to soften your hair and can be used to detangle your hair before shampooing.

Olive Oil
strengthens your hair and nourishes it due to its inherent qualities. Olive oil helps to reduce stress and promotes healthy hair by protecting its elasticity.

Coconut Oil
is one of the oils which helps in the lubrication of the hair. Minerals in unprocessed coconut oil, such as magnesium, potassium, calcium and iron, provide needed nourishment. Helpful for damaged hair and helps to strengthen hair.

Rosemary Herbal Oil
is very useful for dandruff prone scalp. Warm the oil slightly and apply it with the help of your fingers. Rub it well on the scalp and wrap with a hot towel for a few minutes for best results.

Spoil yourself with a real hair-oiling treatment and get healthier and shinier hair, from the OutsideIN!

*It isn't enough, anymore, to see the word "organic" mentioned in reference to a product. Be sure to look for "certified organic" and there must be a recognized certification body associated with that claim, e.g., Ecocert, OCQV, etc.

**[i]Humectant: a substance that absorbs or helps another substance retain moisture.
