Clay Isn't Just Mud!

Stressed by city life, tired of pollution, exposed to the increasing risks of a questionable diet… We all need to find our Earth roots.
Clay plays a significant role in this return to nature’s benefits.

For centuries, many civilizations took advantage of the natural protective and beauty care qualities of clay. Nowadays, reliable research laboratories and researchers have revealed the natural richness of clay and provided objective explanations for its actions.

I will focus on two types of natural clays that nourish and heal your body from the OutsideIn.

France is the source I love for green clay, a bio-mineral, which is naturally concentrated in various easily assimilated mineral salts. Silica, aluminum, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, selenium, cobalt, manganese… the list of trace elements is quite impressive!

From Morocco we have a unique source of a very specific red-brown clay, Ghassoul (pronounced "rassoul" ). In Arabic, its very name translates to "cleansing clay". Ghassoul's most impressive properties in skin improvement are its capacity of absorption due to its high level of ions exchange. To begin with, Ghassoul is rich in silicon, magnesium, calcium, and potassium.

There is much to share about these clays and how they can bring health to you, from the OutsideIn. So, stop thinking of clay as plain, old mud!

Healing Heat

While the overall qualities of warmth and heat have long been associated with comfort and relaxation, heat therapy goes a step further and can provide both pain relief and healing benefits for many types of back pain and injuries. In addition, heat therapy in the form of a heat pad is both inexpensive and easy to do.

Heat therapy application can help provide back pain relief through several mechanisms:

• Heat therapy dilates the blood vessels of the muscles surrounding the spine. This process increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, helping to heal the damaged tissue.

• Heat stimulates the sensory receptors in the skin, which means that applying heat to the back will decrease transmissions of pain signals to the brain and partially relieve the discomfort.

• Heat application facilitates stretching the soft tissues around the spine, including muscles, connective tissue, and adhesions. Consequently, with heat therapy, there will be a decrease in stiffness as well as injury, with an increase in flexibility and overall feeling of comfort. Flexibility is very important for a healthy back.

Don't fool yourself, not all heat sources are equal. I will go into further detail in future posts.
