Some muscle cramps and spasms are due to over-use and some due to under-use.
One culprit of leg and foot cramps (oh, so very painful ... speaking from experience) is stress.
Stress reduces our bodies uptake and use of magnesium. Although, frequently a calcium deficiency is the first thing that comes to mind, you will notice that calcium supplements are more often than note bonded with magnesium. Magnesium is needed for the body to properly assimilate the calcium.

The bottom line, again, is to reduce stress. We can't remove it completely but we can make choices to reduce it here and there. We can also make choices about how we react to situations.
